Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about our estate liquidation and auction services
Q.How do I get started?
Simply give us a call for a free, no-obligation consultation. Identify what items you're keeping, and we'll meet with you to evaluate your estate or collection and discuss the best approach, whether that's an online auction or a buyout. There are no upfront costs to you.
Q.What items do you accept?
We specialize in estate liquidations and special collections including antiques, collectibles, coins, jewelry, firearms, precious metals, furniture, artwork, and household items. As certified Diamondologists and Gemologists, we're especially qualified to appraise and sell fine jewelry. We focus exclusively on estates and collections, we do not handle business liquidations. During your free consultation, we'll help determine if your items are a good fit for our services.
Q.What are my options for selling my estate or collection?
We offer three main services: (1) Online Auctions at Our Warehouse - you bring items to our warehouse, we handle all photography and listing, and buyers pick up after the auction; (2) On-Site Online Auctions - for select premium estates, we can run the online auction from your home location (still online bidding, not in-person); (3) Buyouts - we purchase your entire estate for an agreed-upon price with immediate payment, perfect for quick property vacations.
Q.Do I need to clean or sort items first?
No! We handle all the sorting, cleaning, photographing, and cataloging. Just decide what you're keeping and leave the rest to us. Our team takes care of all the details so you can focus on what matters most to you and your family. Important: Don't discard, donate, or sell items on your own before consulting with us. We often get better prices at auction for items you might think have little value. Let us evaluate everything first.
Q.How does the online auction process work?
We professionally photograph and catalog each item, then list them on our online auction platform. The auction typically runs for several days to a week, allowing buyers from across the country to participate. Bidders compete online, and winning buyers pick up items from our warehouse or your location after the auction closes. Our online format consistently delivers better prices than traditional tag sales.
Q.How does payment work?
For online auctions, we work on commission, there are no upfront costs. You only pay after items sell. For buyouts, we evaluate your estate and provide an agreed-upon price with immediate payment. We'll explain all fees and payment terms clearly during your free consultation.
Q.Where does the auction take place?
You bring items to our warehouse where we handle all the photography, cataloging, and listing. For select premium estates in desirable locations, we can run the online auction from your home location - items stay at your property and we photograph and manage everything there. All bidding is still online, not in-person auctioneer style. We'll discuss the best option for your situation during your consultation.
Q.How long does the process take?
From start to finish, it typically takes up to 3 weeks to get all items sold once we begin listing on our auction site. This includes time for setup, photography, cataloging, the auction period, and item pickup. Buyouts can be completed much faster, perfect if you need to vacate a property quickly. Timelines vary based on your specific situation, and we'll work with your schedule to make the process as smooth as possible.
Q.What makes online auctions better than traditional estate sales?
Online auctions reach a much wider audience, buyers from across the country can participate, not just local shoppers. This increased competition typically results in higher prices for your items. Since we only do online auctions, there's no chaos of crowds coming through your home or property. Your items remain safe and secure until they're sold and picked up by the winning bidders. The process is more organized, professional, and stress-free. Our proven platform has consistently delivered better results than traditional tag sales.
Q.What happens if items don't sell?
We sell over 98% of all items we list! In the rare case items don't sell, we carefully review each piece and decide the best option. This may involve relisting items in future auctions or arranging donation. We'll work with you to determine the best approach for any unsold items while respecting your timeline and goals.
Q.Do you do appraisals?
Yes! We provide free appraisals as part of our consultation service for clients looking to sell their items. For specific items requiring detailed professional appraisals, we offer appraisal services for an hourly rate. As certified Diamondologists and Gemologists, we're specially qualified to appraise fine jewelry. We evaluate estates and collections to help you understand what your items are worth and the best way to sell them.
Q.How does the pickup process work?
After winning bids, you'll receive an invoice via email with payment and pickup instructions. You can pay ahead of time using a credit card (minimum $5 processing fee) or pay on-site with cash or card when you pick up your items. We use SignupGenius to schedule pickup appointments - the link will be provided on the auction page and in your confirmation email. Be sure to note which auction you're picking up from, as pickups may be at our warehouse or on-site at the estate location. Detailed pickup location and instructions are always included with each auction listing.
